CHALLENGES AND DISAPPOINTMENTS
I have noticed that certain people really like to challenge others. Challenging others seems to excite them. Second Life is a great place to observe people doing this. Challenging appears to be a drug to these people. The person behind the keyboard remains anonymous in Second Life, so one never really knows the other person. It could be someone feeling so unhappy in their real lives, that when they log into Second Life it is becomes a place where they feel free to grow and boost their self esteem.
I have nothing against this sort of thing if it just gives the challengers a needed boost to bring their self esteem to a level even with that of other people, but when challenging others is taken to extremes, the consequences suffered by others is such as to warrent judging these people to be predators. They send the bait for the victim to bite, and when the victim bites it, they are caught. Then when the challenger has satisfied his appetite, they are thrown away like rubbish, no longer useful to the challenger. It is sad, because Second Life is supposed to be a place for everyone to feel good doing things that they cannot do in their real life.
I have talked with a number of people in Second Life about their experiences, and I am really sorry to see both men and women damaged by others in this way. Often what they believed before about people, they no longer believe anymore, and in some cases they feel very empty. I have talked with women who have said that after having experienced pose balls for sex, they are made to feel disappointed, deeply hurt and angry. They end by seeing some men as real predators, men who regard them as they would a whore, someone they can have for free, since they dont need to pay. Their victim then is not seen as someone who is real and has feelings, their excuse always being that Second Life is not real and so sex there is not real.
But this is not true. We listen and when we think about something we are already doing it, perhaps not in our actions but in our thoughts. So what we do in Second Life we feel in real life. Our avatars of course only make something when we manage them. It is convenient for some to forget that we are real people behind those little avatars. Some women have told me that they do not want sex in Second Life anymore, because in Second Life they felt as though they were treated as an object. This kind of experience damages some women in their real lives too, and what they believed before, they no longer believe.
It is also true that not only men have such bad behaviour. Women do the same things. I have noticed some women smile and show themselves to be so sweet and great, but after some time we discover they do harm every place they go. They want so much for a man to kneel at their feet; they fancy that all men belong to them, and they are superb in their efforts to create drama. They care nothing about the consequences that such behavior will bring. They want so much to boost their self esteem. Then in the end they run away after damaging everyone, These kind of women dont mind messing up the life of some man in real life. They want to do this because it makes them feel as though they were a superwomen.
This is sad world that we live in. This is true, but what might we do to make everything diferent? I honestly dont know. Maybe we need to make something better inside of ourselves and avoid damaging others just because we dont feel happy ourselves.
